Mother's Day Girls Trip

This Mother's Day weekend was quite different than the years before. This year I left town on Thursday and went to spend the weekend in Galveston with my girl friends from college. We had a great time just relaxing, eating at great restaurants and talking into the wee hours of the morning. We walked on the beach every day and got some sun too. I truly love these women and am thankful to have them in my life.

I was so excited to finally meet my good friend Heather's husband Chris. Heather and I have been close since college and she lives down here with her husband and soon to be little girl. We got to have breakfast together one morning at the Mosquito Cafe and catch up on life. Love this girl!

As if my weekend could not get any sweeter my precious husband sent me gorgeous flowers to me in Galveston to enjoy the whole weekend long. 
Although I had some much needed girl time, I was more than ready to come home to see my family on Sunday. This was my first time to be away from Zane and my heart was aching to love on each of my babies when I got home.

If you have not read Part 1 and Part 2 of this please scroll down to get the whole story: Monday in the hospital was particularly challenging, and had its own set of problems to be worked through. Adam had been originally scheduled to leave on Tuesday morning for a business trip to China for 10 days. I am not sure if you have flown lately, but they generally don't let you "take a rain check" or transfer your ticket to someone else the day before you are to leave. This presented quite a problem since it was pretty apparent that we were not going to be leaving the hospital anytime soon. Because Adam works for my dad we had the luxury of letting him figure out how all that was going to work. If you know my dad, you know that if anyone can get something done that most people can't....its him. So I have discovered three of the best inventions for babies in the last 24 hours. 1. Mylicon gas drops- a must have for all new babies 2. Little Tummies- Gripe water....THE HICCUP CURE!!! Every time Haven has the hiccups, the second she drinks the gripe water they are gone. 3. The wipes warmer. This has made diaper changes MUCH less dramatic in our house. Yesterday we made our first real outting to Plano for my cousin's wedding shower. It was nice to be able to leave the house. Adam went with me and kept Haven over at my Aunt's house with all of the rest of the men who were not allowed at the shower. It was fun for them to watch the two babies (mine and Shelly's). We had a good time and my grandmother finally got to hold Haven. She had another stroke of some sort (not really positive what it was) the same time my water broke a couple weeks ago and so we were both in the same hospital in different towers at the same time. Better day

First of all let me say I am SO thankful for everyone of you who have commented or called. You have no idea how much it has meant to me to have the encouragement I have received from all of you. I have been so blessed by hearing everyones stories and I feel like I am not going through this alone. Thank you. Today was a better day. I am constantly struggling with my own issues about not wanting to give Haven formula, but as of yesterday Adam and I have adopted a new philosophy even if it is temporary. Our new goal is just to fatten this child up as quickly as possible. So I am feeding her and pumping the opposite side and only letting her feed for 20 min so she doesn't exhaust herself. Then we are either following with the milk I just pumped or formula. I am trying to make SURE she is totally full after each feeding no matter what the content. I am also taking an herbal supplement (fenugreek) that is supposed to increase milk supply (we'll see if that works). I am going to try...
